Brokenness

Madrid, 2020
How can the concept of brokenness be expressed through small, round objects? Diversity is key. Each piece behaves differently due to a variety of factors, making the cracks unpredictable, and the act of repair is neither organised nor consistent. This playful work is a dialogue between opposing materials: clay and bioplastic, both of which play a fundamental role in the creative process.

Bioplastic, with its unpredictability, has taught me to navigate uncertain terrain. It allowed me to create authentic works of art around these broken, circular forms. I filled the empty spaces with cotton and wool, breathing new life into them.

Much like in real life, I believe that hidden within difficult times is a kind of beauty. I aimed to capture that idea here, using colorful threads to highlight this belief. This project is one of the few where I chose not to plan every step, instead allowing the journey to surprise me with unexpected discoveries, new skills, and valuable lessons.
