Roundcouture
Madrid, 2020
Roundcouture is a textile research project for haute couture, developed in collaboration with FabLab at MediaLab Prado and a team of artists. The project focuses on creating a collection of garments crafted from innovative 100% natural and biodegradable materials. Through the integration of cutting-edge technologies and advanced digital design techniques, the project achieves a level of tailoring sophistication that rivals contemporary haute couture.
The research delves into the creation and manipulation of bioplastics and biomaterials that can serve as substitutes for silicone, latex, resin, and many other plastic materials currently used in the industry. These new materials offer a wide range of possibilities in terms of colour, texture, and shape.
Through these garments, we aim to demonstrate that sustainable fashion can be just as sophisticated, innovative, and beautiful as the contemporary designs. Additionally, we want to highlight how seamlessly these new materials and more sustainable production methods can be integrated into the fashion industry.
