What is the value of waste? What is my connection to these discarded materials? How do I feel about them, and how do I respond?

Each piece I work with has been discarded at some point, considered waste by others. Yet, I have sought to uncover their hidden value, breathing new life into what was once overlooked. I search for beauty in these materials—something worth observing and contemplating.

I’ve learned that art is often about honing in on a small detail, a shape, or an idea, and letting it guide the creative process. What my eyes notice behind the scenes becomes the focal point of my artistic investigation.

There’s a tendency to dismiss materials as insignificant simply because they are few or perceived as "poor." But it’s precisely the history they carry that gives them depth. Their past makes them not only ethical and sustainable but also rich in meaning, offering an authentic narrative that enhances the value of the work.
